In 2007 the NGO Forum submitted a funding proposal developed by the NGO Steering Committee (2007-2008) for a Secretariat comprising an NGO Secretariat Coordinator, Assistant NGO Secretariat Coordinator & NGO Security Focal Point. This proposal was approved by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) in early 2008.

The NGO Secretariat is now up and running, with an NGO Secretariat Coordinator in place – Melissa Phillips. Recruitment is underway for the remaining two posts.
What is the NGO Secretariat?
The NGO Secretariat has been funded to support coordination, information-sharing and advocacy for all NGOs - national & international - in Southern Sudan.
How is the NGO Secretariat governed?
The NGO Secretariat is administered by Catholic Relief Services (CRS). However on a day-to-day basis the NGO Secretariat reports to the NGO Forum Chair, this is a 2-month rotating position shared between the Steering Committee.
