Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to share with you the results of a mapping/capacity assessment of local organizations across the ten states of Southern Sudan. This study was conducted over the period November 2008 to March 2009 by UN-HABITAT supported by UNDP. It focused on understanding and articulating the current challenges facing local organizations in their community driven recovery and development work (CDR/CDD), and outlining steps, both immediate and medium term, recommended to policy makers and implementors - Government, donors, international and local organizations alike - to address these. From this work a database of information contributed by 383 local organizations has also emerged. This database will be transferred during the month of June to the Sudan Capacity Building Forum (SCBF) whose Secretariat will take the lead to further update and make the database accessible to all. The Southern Sudan Indigenous and Civil Society Organizations Forum (SSICSOF) and NESI Network in collaboration with SCBF remain key focal points best positioned to coordinate and advance priority recommendations in support of local organizations in southern Sudan . SCBF is proud to announce the hosting of a database of Local NGOs in Sudan. The database contains entries for 383 organizations spread across the following states; - Central Equatoria State (CES)
- Western Equatoria State (WES)
- Eastern Equatoria State (EES)
- Jonglei (Jonglei)
- Unity State (Unity)
- Lakes State (Lakes)
- Warrap (Warrap)
- Western Bahr El Ghazal (WBG)
- Northern Bahr el Ghazal (NBG)
- Upper Nile, (UN)
- and Juba (JUB)

I f you would like to have your organization registered in the database, please download and fill the database questionnaire and send back to us. Fill in questionnaires 1 - 12. Organizations that offer internet access should print out the database questionnaires and distribute them to their CSO/CBO partners for filling in. You can notify the SCBF Secretariat to collect these forms where possible, or scan and send the questionnaires to
